Division Objectives

- 
Plan, conduct and monitor the requirements and specifications of UIS’s information and communication technology infrastructure and infostructure. 
- 
Ensure all computer hardware and software, including servers, printers, scanners, LCD projectors, internet lines, networks, systems, applications and websites, are always ready for use and well-maintained. 
- 
Provide advisory and consultation services in ICT. 
Division Functions

APPLICATION MANAGEMENT SECTION
- 
Design, establish and maintain application systems to support UIS functions. 
- 
Maintain and improve the quality of developed application from time to time. 
- 
Coordinate, monitor and ensure that information within the application systems is always updated and user needs and requests are fullfilled. 
- 
Coordinate the resolution of problems related to access to application systems. 
NETWORK MANAGEMENT AND ICT SAFETY SECTION
- 
Plan, manage, develop, monitor and increase the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) system network. 
- 
Plan, manage, implement and supervise network equipment. 
- 
Evaluate and test new network equipment technologies for implementation. 
- 
Carry out planned system maintenance/upgrades according to current needs and resolve any technical issues related to the network systems and internet access. 
- 
Formulate UIS’s ICT security policies and guidelines. 
- 
Monitor activities in the UIS computer system and network, and manage ICT security incidents. 
- 
Implement ICT security awareness programmes amongst UIS members. 
DIGITAL AND WEBSITE MANAGEMENT SECTION
- 
Manage, plan, design, establish, coordinate, monitor and maintain appropriate website and application services, as well as adherence to the UIS’s website guideline criteria. 
- 
Study and identify new technology that may be adapted to aid the website and mobile application in functioning better. 
- 
Ensure the website aligns with other IPT websites and complies with MAMPU guidelines. 
- 
Administer, manage and provide supporting services for UIS’s teaching and learning applications (PdP). 
- 
Manage and coordinate website translation work to ensure uniformity. 
- 
Ensure the latest website content. 
- 
Manage and administer security for the website databases, PdP web application and mobile application. 
- 
Manage and carry out server configuration and software installation processes related to websites and mobile applications that comply with software development methodology. 
OPERATION MANAGEMENT & ICT SUPPORT SERVICES SECTION
- 
Plan and manage UIS IT infrastructure operations as a whole to support UIS computer programmes. 
- 
Monitor and analyse computer system performance and manage UIS computer systems to operate 24/7 with minimal downtime. 
- 
Manage and operate disaster recovery, backup and restoration. 
- 
Plan and manage desktop equipment in terms of procurement, installation, placement, loan, maintenance and disposal. 
- 
Provide technical support services to users and manage ICT system complaints and software usage. 
- 
Manage division files and expenses.
