Office Objectives
The Chief Information Official's Office was established to lead changes involving digital transformation and promote information sharing across Responsibility Centres; to to set the direction for digitisation and library services, ensuring effective administration and management of the library for the benefit of users both within and beyond UIS.
Office Functions

Lead change by aligning the Digitalisation Strategic Plan, Library Strategic Plan, and University Strategic Plan over a five-year period for the use, maintenance, and operation of ICT infrastructure, services, and security, as well as library services, in support of the university’s vision and mission.

Enhance cross-functional processes between Responsible Centres in aspects of integrated information technology usage and effective work process implementation to ensure that ICT facilities and libraries are fully utilised in enhancing productivity and decision-making.

Develop, manage infrastructure and ICT security, as well as library requirements (functions and services), to ensure they are safe, available and up-to-date.

Maintain data integrity digitally, encourage information sharing and formulate methods to distribute information digitally and securely to authorised users both within and outside the organisation.

Foster a culture of ICT and libraries, as well as promoting ICT and library facilities, services and security in alignment with the university's strategic thrust by acting as agents and pioneers of change.

Amend ICT and library procedures, standards and best practices, and ensure procedures, standards and best practices are enforced and audited to support in a more systematic risk management process at SIU.
