Office Functions
There are two divisions under the Legal Advisor's Office:
LEGAL ADVISORY DIVISION (BPP)
BPP is responsible to:

Provide advice to UIS, particularly UIS Upper Management, on all legal matters related to governance, policy, campus development and academic affairs related to legal risks;

Advise UIS on any Act, Statute, Method, Policy, Regulation, or any related law that requires modification or improvement based on UIS practices and procedures;

Provide legal advice in the preparation of documents, letters, reports, etc.;

Provide legal advice on disciplinary actions towards UIS staff and students;

Provide legal advice on disciplinary appeals by UIS staff and students.
LEGISLATIVE ADMINISTRATION DIVISION (BTUP)
BTUP is responsible to:

PProvide legal advice regarding the governance of UIS as a corporate body including the roles and responsibilities of the UIS Board of Directors, Senate and other UIS Authorities; and the roles and responsibilities of UIS staff and students in accordance with the structure of the UIS Constitution;

Draft and prepare legal instruments including the drafting of UIS statutes, rules and regulations;

Ensure that the best governance is implemented;

Manage disciplinary committee meetings for staff and students at the UIS level.
